Tutorial v1.0: Activate & Customize Currency Rates for BlogrCart MNMLUS
BlogrCart MNMLUS theme/template comes equipped with currency changer which blog store owners could use & set to the desired available currency of choice.The currency rate & options is set by blogger store owners using this theme which also updates the shopping cart items with the selected currency.
Why can't I have like a currency changer/selection across my blog rather than having it on the checkout section?
Simple answer. Your blog does not have a database, so therefore the data depends solely as you published your products page. Performing price changes (like other blog themes) would create more risks to you as blog owners due to dependant on users end for storage. Not a very good idea don't you think so?
Before we begin, there are several sections that requires for the functions to work. In theme the sections are:-
- #11 CURRENCY SETTINGS
- #1 STORE CURRENCY SETTINGS
- #3 PAYPAL SETTINGS
These sections will work together when customizing your checkout to available currency of choices.
#11 Currency Options Settings
Below is the default currency settings & options available for BlogrCart MNMLUS Blogger store theme. Find the settings tagged #11 in theme/template codes.<select class='some_class' id='cart-currency'>
<option data-default='1' data-rate='1' value='MYR'>MYR Ringgit Malaysia (Current)</option>
<option data-rate='0.25' value='USD'>MYR to USD US Dollar (0.25)</option>
<option data-rate='0.35' value='SGD'>MYR to SGD Singapore Dollar (0.35)</option>
<option data-rate='0.35' value='BND'>MYR to BND Brunei Dollar (0.35)</option>
<option data-rate='3448.55' value='IDR'>MYR to IDR Indonesia Rupiah (3448.55)</option>
<option data-rate='16.25' value='INR'>MYR to INR Indian Rupee (16.25)</option>
</select>
Changes are required ONLY for the second options onwards.
For the first option
(highlighted in yellow) set your store value & name which you are using & as your store currency. For example, the above setting has set MYR as the currency used at store. The data-rate='1' will be the default rate (required).For the next option,
data-rate='' and a value='' is required. Whereas:-data-rate- The current currency exchange rate between your store default currency & this option currency. In this example, MYR is 0.25 exchange rate to USDvalue- The international currency code used. If you are using Paypal checkout options (in later stage) it is best to include Paypal supported currencies (available in theme) here.- Text to display would be in between
<option> ... </option>tags. An example is providedhighlighted in cyan.
Here are examples:-
I would set my option to look like so with example using
IDR (Indonesia Rupiah) as my store default currency:-<select class='some_class' id='cart-currency'>
<option data-default='1' data-rate='1' value='IDR'>IDR Indonesia Rupiah (Current)</option>
<option data-rate='0.000073' value='USD'>IDR to USD US Dollar (0.000073)</option>
</select>
Noticed the value currency rate from
IDR to USD is 0.000073 as in screenshot.Or maybe this:-
<select class='some_class' id='cart-currency'>
<option data-default='1' data-rate='1' value='INR'>INR India Rupee (Current)</option>
<option data-rate='0.015' value='USD'>INR to USD US Dollar (0.015)</option>
</select>
Noticed the value to exchange rate from
INR to USD is 0.015 as in screenshot.The settings is as follows
1 [your default currency] equals to [currency options rate]. Find out current currency rates with the help from our good friend Google. You can insert
UNLIMITED currency rates options here by using the same format provided above in between the <select> .... </select> tag. This will display a drop down with all the currencies you have included at your checkout section.Do take note that the currency rate is updated manually & it is up to your responsibility to update the rates accordingly.
If you are using the automated exchange currency to checkout at Paypal, these options
MUST be included/made available to set the currency rate required at Paypal.Activating the currency selection at Checkout
To activate the currency selection at checkout, go to#1 CURRENCY SETTINGS and change the setting data-currencyrates='no' to data-currencyrates='yes' . You're done! All the heavy lifting is done by the theme plug-in for your blogger store.Now the select currency options will be displayed once you open up the checkout summary section. You can test by adding a product to cart and select the currency of choice. Review the totals changes while testing in making sure the calculations is correct.
Best practice to include the currency rate at your currency select options
(as highlighted in cyan). This will also notify your customers on the currency exchange rate you are applying to.Activating Paypal Currency Conversions.
Since that Paypal only has20+ supported currencies to use, by request from our die-hard users, to convert your Blogger store currency to a supported currency of your choice at Paypal.To activate this option, go to
#3 PAYPAL SETTINGS and change& data-currencyconvert='no' to data-currencyconvert='yes' . This will activate the Paypal currency conversion functions.If you have not activated Paypal checkout then you can set the value='no' to value='yes'.
Now the functions is activated, you
MUST tell the plug-in to which currency you want to use at Paypal. Go to data-currencytoconvert='' and change to data-currencytoconvert='***' whereas *** would be the currency codes supported at Paypal and also available as an option at your Currency Rate options above.Important: The currency code to convert at Paypal here
MUST be listed as an OPTION in #11 CURRRENCY RATE SETTINGS. For example, if my store uses
Indonesian Rupiah (not supported at Paypal), then if I want to convert the currency automatically at Paypal using US Dollar, then my setting would be this:-currencyconvert='yes'data-currencytoconvert='USD'
Click
Save Template & test it out by selecting a product, adding it to cart, & checkout using your store currency by clicking the Paypal checkout button. View the results & automatically the prices & currency used is the one you have set-up at your store.I do not want to display my currency selection to Paypal but I want all other currency option available.
Simple! Add aclass="sr-only" to your option so it would be hidden from view but still be accessible for your Paypal checkout currency exchange rates to use.Here is an example:-
<select class='some_class' id='cart-currency'>
<option data-default='1' data-rate='1' value='INR'>INR India Rupee (Current)</option>
<option class="sr-only" data-rate='0.015' value='USD'>INR to USD US Dollar (0.015)</option>
</select>
For the above, you are hiding the INR to USD currency exchange rate option but still the plug-in can use to convert purchases in INR at your store & checkout with USD at Paypal. (with the exception that the
currencytochange value at Paypal settings is "yes" ) :-)SIMPLE! So get started! Grab a PRO Blogger store theme now highly rated awesome theme collections made by the people at irsah indesigns here at their Marketplace.
